sad news : Leicester City has suspended their head coach

Leicester announces that Enzo Maresca, the manager from Manchester City, is joining.

Enzo Maresca has been named manager of Leicester, with a contract that runs through 2026. In an attempt to get Leicester back into the Premier League, the 43-year-old resigned from his position as Manchester City’s first-team coach.

Leicester’s chairman, Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha, said: “Enzo brings a combination of personality, method and ambition that meets extremely well with the footballing direction we are looking to take.

 

“Enzo’s profile has stood out to us for some time – a feeling that was only enhanced upon meeting him and listening to his enthusiasm. I have no doubt he will be warmly welcomed by our supporters and that together we can reset the club’s course towards future success.”

, who took over as interim manager at the end of this season, were not chosen over Maresca, a highly respected coach who began his playing career at West Brom. Maresca has only had one stint as head coach and turned down the opportunity to lead Southampton in the past. That lasted 14 matches in 2021 with Parma. Additionally, the Italian team had recently been demoted to the second division.

 

The Italian gained experience under Manuel Pellegrini at West Ham and Ascoli, Sevilla, and Ascoli before joining Manchester City to oversee their premier development team. After the incident against Parma last June, he came back to City.
