Benji Marshall, the coach of the Wests Tigers, has selected a 26-man roster for the NRL Pre-season Challenge against the St George Illawarra Dragons on Saturday in Mudgee.


The 18-year-old local junior Lachlan Galvin has recovered from a calf strain and has been named on the bench. Alex Twal and Justin Matamua are also scheduled to have their first hit-out after being rested last weekend. The PNG international will line up in the centres alongside Starford To’a, who will also play his first game of the year. Solomon Alaimalo, a speedy outside back, joined the club in December having played several seasons of Super Rugby with the Waikato Chiefs.

The Western Suburbs Magpies, the NSW Cup side of Wests Tigers, will play a trial match against St George Illawarra at Mudgee as a prelude to the NRL. The start of this match is 5:30 p.m.

This weekend, the Wests Tigers Jersey Flegg Cup team will play the South Sydney Rabbitohs in a trial. This game is one of six pathways on Saturday at Leichhardt Oval, and it will begin at 4:00 p.m.
