Alex Bregman Is Expected To Have An Amazing Astros Contract Year
Before entering free agency, Alex Bregman appears ready for a big season with the Houston Astros.
The Houston Astros did not offer Alex Bregman a contract extension this offseason, in contrast to Jose Altuve. Bregman will probably be available for free agency the following winter unless the parties unexpectedly come to an agreement before Opening Day.
Bregman wants to make the most of his final season with the Astros since he is aware that it might be his last. On Sunday, upon his arrival at Spring Training, he discussed his offseason preparation and his 2024 aspirations.
Players are normally optimistic this time of year, and Bregman is no different, already promising a career year. “One of the best offseasons I’ve ever had. I feel incredible getting here,” Bregman told reporters. “My body feels in incredible shape, my swing feels better than ever and I’m looking forward to a great, healthy season.”
Bregman mentioned adjustments to his offseason training schedule, which included working out at the Exos gym in Phoenix with All-Stars Matt Chapman and Xander Bogaerts. To improve his swing, he also worked with Troy Snitker, the hitting instructor for the Astros.
Bregman stated that in order to concentrate on baseball and get ready for the upcoming season, he has been letting his agent, Scott Boras, handle extension negotiations with Houston.
Bregman is obviously driven to go out and have a huge campaign before entering free agency. He turns 30 next month.
Although his offensive productivity has plateaued over the past few years and he hasn’t been selected to an All-Star team since 2019, maybe his preparation for the offseason will help him regain his MVP-caliber form from 2018–19.
Should this turn out to be Bregman’s last season with the Astros, don’t be shocked if he has a spectacular farewell.
