SAD NEWS : Adelaide Heat superstar says he wont play again ….

The remarkable journey of Adelaide forward from Crows shop to Leadership Group

Lachlan Murphy began his Adelaide career as a souvenir salesman in the Crows store.
He is currently a part of the Leadership Group of the Club.

“It’s kind of cool,” Murphy said to the media on Tuesday.
“And when you put it like that, it never really once crossed my mind that I was going to have a leadership title.”
Jordan Dawson, the captain, has added four new members to the Crows Leadership Group, including Murphy.

The 25-year-old is one of the new faces on the team, joining Wayne Milera, Darcy Fogarty, and Mitch Hinge. Brodie Smith, Ben Keays, and Reilly O’Brien have been appointed as joint vice captains.
Murphy, who plays for the Crows state league team and works at Crowmania, the Club’s souvenir shop, moved to Adelaide from Melbourne in 2017.
He was informed prior to the 2017 rookie draft that he had little chance of being chosen, despite occasionally being granted permission to train with the AFL roster.
Then, Adelaide gambled on rookie-list Murphy with Pick No. 38.
Next year he made his AFL debut, and in the 98 games he’s played since then, he says he’s always felt like he’s on the fringe of the squad selection.

“I have never felt at all at ease here,” Murphy declared.
“However, this simply gives me greater assurance that, no matter how I do on the pitch or off, this leadership group is made up of leaders both on and off the pitch.
“And the greatest challenge for any leader, I guess, is how they lead through adversity.”
Given his trip, Murphy was especially proud of his elevation to the leadership group.”I’m not … the only one that has done it the hard way,” stated the man.
Everybody’s life journey and experiences are different.
“Everyone experiences unique challenges during their profession; some are selected first, while others are passed over three times.
Regular reflection on my journey is something I do, and I’m really proud of it.
“I’m never satisfied with where I’m at … (but) I’m just proud of the way I’ve handled the stuff that I’ve had to go through.”
