7 free agents 49ers should re-sign…

Though re-signing Feliciano makes a lot of sense, the 49ers will undoubtedly use the draft to strengthen their offensive line. He won’t break the bank and showed himself to be one of the team’s top interior offensive lineman in the previous campaign. By rearranging the depth chart, San Francisco might improve their starting unit and depth at the same time by re-signing him and selecting a right tackle. It would be much better if they had a player that outperforms Feliciano in terms of starting position.

The 49ers don’t usually come to mind when we discuss needs, but aside from Nick Bosa, they don’t have many truly trustworthy choices on defense. Ferrell started all 17 of the 49ers’ games last season, and his ability to establish the advantage against the run while also contributing a little bit to the pass rush was something the team lacked when he wasn’t playing. Ferrell could be paid out in free agency, but the 49ers should definitely get him back if they can do it at a low cost.

It’s unknown if Darnold will look for a starting position this summer, but it makes sense for the 49ers to try to get back together if one doesn’t come available. Although Brock Purdy was fit for every game during the previous season, the squad has experienced too many injuries under center to continue shielding itself from that issue. If Purdy isn’t available, San Francisco will probably want a backup quarterback they know can win them a few games, and Darnold meets that need better than any other possible backup free agent quarterback.
