During Kyren Wilson’s victory, Jak Jones was taken out after failing to follow Crucible protocol.

During the last session of his World Snooker Championship loss to Kyren Wilson, Jak Jones was taken aback when a Crucible spectator was called upon to usher the Welshman backstage. Despite Jones’ heroic efforts to battle his way back into the match after falling behind early on, Wilson was able to win his first triple crown title.

Jones, also known as the Silent Assassin, started the final by dropping the first seven frames, so things did not seem good. The 30-year-old then gradually began to close the distance on Wilson, but by the final session on Monday, he was still holding on.

Wilson was within one frame away from winning when Jones extended the game to 17-12. An intermission was then declared, allowing both players to gather their thoughts before the epic match resumed.

However, Jones moved to the table and sat down, as though he had missed the memo. There was an uneasy moment until someone in the audience ushered him backstage.

But in the 32nd frame, Wilson managed to pull off the victory, and after that, he sobbed and hugged his family. “My mum and dad have remortgaged and sacrificed their whole lives to get me here,” he stated to BBC Two.

We have been on a true emotional rollercoaster since I was six years old, so it was wonderful to have the family present and share our feelings. I had dreamed of this moment. I’ve given it everything I’ve got, managed to keep my composure, and Jak has been fighting nonstop to make things so difficult for me.”
