The latest on the Toronto Maple Leafs’ search for a new head coach is provided by Elliotte Friedman.

Elliotte Friedman provides the most recent information on the Toronto Maple Leafs’ hunt for a new head coach.

throughout Friday morning’s season-ending media conference, general manager Brad Treliving gave an account of a number of injuries sustained by important players both at the end of the regular season and throughout Boston’s seven-game elimination.

The fact that Auston Matthews was out for the previous two games due to concerns about potentially suffering a concussion following a collision in Game 4 that was giving him headaches is what most people found interesting.

In addition, following Game 2, the team’s leading scorer developed a sickness that they initially mistook for food poisoning.

Treliving referred to it as a virus, as Matthews had earlier in the week. It wasn’t until the afternoon of Game 7 when Matthews was cleared.

Bobby McMann, a winger with the Leafs, sprained his MCL against Detroit on April 13 and appeared to be recovering if the team advanced to the second round.

The longest-healing injury is that of winger Connor Dewar, who apparently played through a shoulder injury and was to undergo surgery sometime Friday. Treliving said he would be ready for training camp.

Treliving also confirmed William Nylander’s comments that severe migraines flared up after the regular season to the stage where the 98-point winger went through concussion protocol.

Treliving, team president Brendan Shanahan and new MLSE head honcho Keith Pelley were addressing the media after last week’s season-ending Game 7 loss. Leafs coach Sheldon Keefe was fired on Thursday.
