Newcastle focus on centre-back and winger options, Trafford truth and Vlachodimos loan
Newcastle United are fully focused on bringing in a winger and a centre-back in the last throes of the summer transfer window – and the Magpies are not in active talks with Burnley to sign James Trafford.
United do hold an interest in the England youth international but have not held discussions with the former Man City stopper. Whether Newcastle revisit the situation remains to be seen but the priority is finding Eddie Howe a centre-back with Marc Guehi still being pursued.
Burnley set their value with Trafford earlier in the summer when slapping a £30m asking price on the 21-year-old as they understandably wanted to make a profit on the promising keeper. Newcastle’s link with Trafford raises the possibility of an outgoing deal for a keeper in the next few days.
