Kaizer Chiefs are set to make an improved bid for a top target despite being told that the Bafana Bafana winger is not for sale.
Amakhosi remain determined to sign Cape Town Spurs youngster, Asenele Velebayi with Nasreddine Nabi said to admire the attacker.
Chiefs are ready to submit a serious bid for the player. They had at least two low-ball offers thrown back in their face.
Kaizer Chiefs undeterred by no-sale declaration
Chiefs angered Cape Town Spurs when the player’s parents became involved in the transfer saga.
Velebayi’s mother pleaded with the Mother City club to allow him to head to Naturena.
However, Spurs have stood firm and demanded their stated fee for the 21-year-old capped international.
A source has claimed that this hasn’t damaged the relationship between the clubs and Kaizer Chiefs will submit a fresh bid closer to the mark.
“Asenele is young so it makes sense that Spurs are trying to get more money from his proposed transfer.
“The player is also interested in joining Chiefs, but for now he has to focus on his current club as Chiefs prepare to go back to Spurs with an improved offer,” a source told the Citizen.
“You saw today that he had a good game and the Chiefs fans will love him because he’s quick on the wing and tricky to defend against. The good thing is that both clubs have a decent relationship after Rushwin’s (Dortley) move to Chiefs recently and hopefully they will come to an agreement.”
Transfer window action continues
Kaizer Chiefs have been active in the current window even if they have suffered setbacks.
The Soweto Giants have brought in five fresh faces in the form of Fiacre Nwari, Rushwin Dortley, Bongani Sam, Gaston Sirino and Inacio Miguel.
Stellenbosch FC winger Antonio van Wyk will not join Kaizer Chiefs after the Winelands club agreed a deal with an Austrian team to take the youngster abroad.
Van Wyk was in the final year of his Stellies contract and had piqued the interest of the Kaizer Chiefs, who were expecting to sign him as a potential prospect either this season or at the conclusion of his present contract.
