Eddie Howe stated that retaining players in this summer’s window would be deemed a “success” as the Magpies go into the last few days of the summer trading period.
Having held on to Anthony Gordon, Alexander Isak and Bruno Guimaraes, there is part of Howe that would be happy if the window was bolted firmly shut right now. With Kieran Trippier attracting interest from Premier League rivals and overseas, it is thought that Howe’s comment was aimed at the England full-back.
