Marcell Dareus Suspended 4 Games: Latest Details, Comments, Reaction
The NFL has suspended Buffalo Bills defensive tackle Marcell Dareus for the first four games of the 2016 season because of a violation of the league’s substance abuse policy.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the news on Aug. 16, and Ian Rapoport of NFL Network noted the suspension is marijuana-related. He was previously in the drug program and was suspended for the first game of the 2015 season.
On Aug. 17, Dareus confirmed the suspension was due to a missed drug test, per Joe Buscaglia of WKBW.
The Bills released a statement on Dareus’ situation:
“I’m frustrated and disappointed [in Dareus], and so is everyone in this organization,” head coach Rex Ryan told reporters on Aug. 17.
